McCall, Idaho – On Sunday, March 10, 2019 McCall Winter Sports Club(MWSC) is producing an International Freeskiers & Snowboarders Association(IFSA)-sanctioned big mountain freeride ski and snowboard competition at Brundage Mountain.
About 60 amateur skiers and riders from the Intermountain Division will compete in this entry-level competition. Athletes get two runs on the big mountain course in Brundage’s Hidden Valley terrain. Age categories include U12, 12-14 and 15-18 years of age. Results count towards each athlete’s IFSA Overall Junior Freeride Ranking, which potentially qualify them to compete in National Championships. Competition is open to all skiers & riders, but athletes do need their IFSA membership for the 2019 season. One-Time Memberships are also available.
The recent and forecasted snowfall for Brundage Mountain will make for a fun course. Athletes are judged on 5 categories: Line Choice, Control, Fluidity, Technique, and Style & Energy.
Course inspection is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday morning. The competition starts at 11:15am.
Registration for the comp is $35 and can be completed online at www.freeskiers.org/events.
Awards will be given out to the top 3 female and 3 male skiers and snowboarders in each age division.
The event is sponsored by Brundage Mountain Resort, Gravity Sports, Alpine Ski Wholesalers, McCall Sports Exchange, The BoardRoom and Eco Lounge.
